Frequently Asked Questions

What is acupuncture and how does it work?

Acupuncture is a time-tested healing practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body to promote natural healing, reduce pain, and restore balance to the body’s energy systems.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes. When performed by a licensed and properly trained practitioner, acupuncture is extremely safe. At Acu360 Clinic, we use only single-use, sterile needles and follow strict safety protocols.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most patients describe acupuncture as relaxing. You may feel a mild sensation or pressure at the insertion site, but it’s generally not painful. Many people even fall asleep during treatment.

What conditions can acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture is commonly used to support pain relief, stress and anxiety, fertility, digestive issues, sleep disturbances, and women’s health. At Acu360, we also specialize in cosmetic acupuncture, PTSD recovery, and integrative oncology care.

How many treatments will I need?

This varies depending on your condition, health history, and goals. Some people experience immediate relief, while others require a series of sessions to address chronic conditions. Your provider will create a personalized treatment plan at your first visit.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first session includes a comprehensive intake, health assessment, and acupuncture treatment. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and plan for about 60–90 minutes.

Do you accept insurance or HSA/FSA accounts?

Yes. We accept many insurance plans that cover acupuncture and also welcome HSA and FSA spending. We are happy to verify your benefits and help you navigate the process.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are rare but may include mild bruising, lightheadedness, or temporary soreness. Most patients feel relaxed or energized after treatment.

Can acupuncture be used alongside other medical treatments?

Absolutely. Acupuncture is often used integratively to support conventional treatments, including physical therapy, medication management, and oncology care. We are happy to collaborate with your healthcare team.

Is cosmetic acupuncture safe and effective?

Yes. Cosmetic acupuncture is both complimentary and a natural alternative to injectables that promotes circulation, collagen production, and muscle tone. It’s safe, minimally invasive, and can improve skin quality over time with consistent treatment.

What is TCM nutritional counseling?

TCM nutritional counseling is a personalized approach to diet based on Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. It considers your unique constitution, symptoms, and imbalances to recommend specific foods that support healing, balance, and long-term wellness. At Acu360 Clinic, we are rooted in TCM Nutrition and integrate some Western Nutrition principles.

How is TCM nutrition different from Western nutrition?

While Western nutrition focuses on calories, macronutrients, and vitamins, TCM nutrition emphasizes the energetic qualities of food—such as warming vs. cooling or drying vs. moistening—to harmonize the body's internal environment. It’s less about what you eat in general and more about what’s right for your specific pattern of imbalance.

What are Chinese herbal formulas and how do they work?

Chinese herbal formulas are carefully balanced combinations of medicinal herbs used to support the body’s healing processes. Each formula is designed to treat specific TCM patterns by addressing root imbalances rather than just symptoms. They are commonly used alongside acupuncture to enhance effectiveness.

Are medicinal herbs safe?

Yes, when prescribed by a licensed practitioner. At Acu360, we only use high-quality, third-party-tested herbal products from trusted suppliers. Your herbal formula is tailored to your unique needs and adjusted as your condition evolves.

Can I take medicinal herbs with my current medications?

Many Chinese herbs can be safely taken with conventional medications, but it’s important to disclose your full medication list to your practitioner. We take an integrative approach and work with your other healthcare providers when needed to ensure safety and coordination of care.
